In the month of March, when the lockdown took place, the average daily published housing advertisements in Cologne increased by 48.8 percent compared to February. By the end of May, however, the number had fallen by 27.6 percent to slightly above the February level. In June, the month in which the first easing of the corona measures took place, there was then a remarkable increase in the average daily published advertisements by 65.9 percent compared with the previous month of May and by around 79 percent compared with February.

While there were strong changes in Cologne in the average number of advertisements published per day during the corona months of March, April, May and June, the average square metre price of advertised apartments remained relatively stable at least from February to the end of April. By the end of June, however, it had risen by around 10.8 percent compared with April, and was thus 13 percent higher than in February.
